Edgar J. McCarty

            Edgar J. McCarty, 90 DuBois, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at Mt. Laurel Nursing Home in Clearfield. He was born August 7, 1926 in Big Run, PA, son of the late Allen McCarty & Alice (Hoover) McCarty Weber. He married Agnes E. (Roy) McCarty May 11, 1946. She preceded him in death in 2001.

            Edgar was a WWII veteran having served with the US Navy in the Pacific. He took on many jobs through out his life; some of them were logging, truck driver, welder & mechanic. He retired from Jones Brothers Contractors of Tennessee as a welder.

            Edgar is survived by a daughter Thelma Salada of DuBois, two sons Roger (Margaret) McCarty of Brockport and Marlin (Connie) McCarty of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, two sisters Dorothy Keller of N. Tonawanda, Marie Shiffler of Altoona, three brothers Frank (Mary) McCarty and Robert (Joan) McCarty of NY and Clifford McCarty of Reynoldsville, eight grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

            Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant son Edgar A., brother Clyde Hoover and sister Julia Huey

            Edgar was a long time resident of the Luthersburg Area.

            Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Sykesville Memorial Cemetery.
