James Michael "Tank" Strouse

James Michael “Tank” Strouse, 61, of Paradise Road, Sykesville, PA, died, suddenly, Saturday, December 2, 2017.  A son of the late Paul P. and Ellen Jane (Leiberton) Strouse, he was born on March 21, 1956 in DuBois, PA.  On June 11, 1999, he married Deneise (Eckman) who survives in Sykesville.

Besides his wife, Tank is survived by his children: Jamie (Donald) Murray of Sykesville, Cody Strouse of DuBois and Derek Strouse of Sykesville; a step-daughter: Samantha Deter of Plum, PA; two grandchildren: Alexis and Bayley of Sykesville; his brothers: Chuck (Lori) Strouse of Brockway and Joe (Brenda) Strouse of Clearfield; his sisters: Julie Strouse and her partner Lynn of DuBois, Theresa (Gary) Landini of Saxonburg and Denise Borland of Bradford; his mother and father-in-law: Albert and Barbara Eckman of Sykesville; his sisters-in-law: Kathy Eckman of Sykesville and Debby (John) Glasl of Reynoldsville.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Eric.

Tank was a 1974 graduate of DuBois High School and had served in the US Army Reserves.  He worked as a driller, a machinist at Niagara Cutter and as a driver for the Amish for many years. 

The Head Coach for Sykesville Leopards football for ten years, he was also Vice President of the Sykesville Council, a member of Lazy Lizard Lodge and Scrub Masters, Reynoldsville Eagles and North East Ohio Crappie Club where he had many experiences with his friend Tony D.  He loved entertaining friends with his special recipes for Crappies, Venison and humor, ensuring everyone always left him with a full belly and stitches in their sides.  Tank was an organ donor and always encouraged others to do the same.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m., and again on Wednesday, December 6, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of Sykesville, PA.  Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home, 1:00 p.m., Wednesday.

Interment will take place in the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery of Sykesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting memorials in James’ name to be used at their discretion and will be accepting online condolences at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com.
