John Joseph Loss

John Joseph Loss, 69, Sykesville, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Penn Highlands Healthcare in DuBois. He was born October 8, 1948 in DuBois, PA. He was the son of the late John Loss & Bernice (Kengersky) Loss-Benton. John made his home with his lifelong companion Laurie Conrad, who preceded him in death in 2007.

John was a “1966” Graduate of DAHS. He was a mechanic in the engine room of ships while enlisted in the US Navy. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator before getting a job at the Wal-Mart Warehouse as a Forklift operator. John was a member of the Big O, DuBois VFW, and the Sykesville Eagles.

John is survived by his lifelong companions’ children whom he had raised from a young age. Cindy Bronk of DuBois, Brenda Williams of DuBois and Norman “Pete” Conrad of New Port News, VA, a sister Sharon (Terry) Wilson of Cincinnati, OH, two nieces & two nephews especially Bethanne Able & her son Damen, and Terry A. Wilson, eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and lifelong companion, John was also preceded in death by a brother Arthur “Butch” Loss, two sons Samuel “Tim” Conrad and Mark Conrad, and a granddaughter Angel Mirainda Bronk.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, from 12noon until 1pm at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois. Services will follow on Wednesday at 1pm at the Funeral Home with Fr. Bill Baron as Celebrant. Military Honors will be accorded by the VFW Honor Guard at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Church Cemetery in DuBois.
