Joseph Jerome Duda

Joseph Jerome Duda, 76, State College, formerly of Sykesville passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center after a short illness. He was born June 18, 1941 in DuBois, PA; son of the late Joseph & Helen (Roman) Duda.

Joseph was a “1959” graduate of Sykesville HS and a “1965” graduate of Electronics Institute of Pittsburgh. He spent 3 ½ years in The US Army Signal Corp. He began working at the Office of Physical Plant at Penn State University in April of 1965 and retired in June of 2003. He was a member of Teamsters Local 48 and the American Legion Post 245 of State College. He attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in State College and a past member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church in Sykesville.

Joseph is survived by his daughter Mary Christine (Duda) and husband, Nathan Hutchinson, of Boalsburg, four grandchildren Xavier Johnson, Anja Johnson, Silvia Hutchinson & Cole Hutchinson.

Joseph enjoyed reading, collecting, and visiting with his grandchildren & grand-dog.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church in Sykesville with Rev. Vasyl Banyk officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Sykesville.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of Sykesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare or American Heart Association.
