Velma L. (Gaul) Beck

            Velma L. Beck, age 81 of Hormetown, Pa, passed away on January 31, 2018 at Highland View Health Care.  She was born November 27, 1936, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of the late Hermon & Bessie (Galentine) Gaul.   Velma was married to Melvin Beck on January 21, 1957.  He preceded her in death on January 6, 1998.

          Velma is survived by four children, Bernard (Dolly M.) Beck of Brockway, Delores (Edward) Kite of Reynoldsville, Janet (Dan) Blair of DuBois and Vera (James) Place of DuBois, three sisters, Mae (Larry) Burkett of Punxsutawney, Marion (Verlon) Burkett of Punxsutawney, Faye Snyder of Brockway and two brothers, Everette (Dorothy) Gaul of Punxsutawney and Lee Gaul of Erie, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

          In addition to her parents and husband, Velma was also preceded in death by a son Melvin Henry Beck, a sister, Charlotte Douthit, three brothers, Lewis, Jay and Fred Gaul and an infant baby boy.

          She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Hormetown and Beechtree Union Church.  She enjoyed gardening and quilting. 

          Friends will be received on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois.  Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Terry Felt officiating.  Burial will take place in Lakelawn Memorial Cemetery.
