Victor N. Kosko, Sr., age 96, lifelong resident of Sykesville, PA., passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, at his home.
Born in Sykesville, PA on December 4, 1921, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Sloaf) Kosko. Victor Married Jennie (Varacallo) Kosko September 11, 1948; she preceded him in death on February 13, 2010.
He was a 1939 graduate of the Sykesville Area High School. In 1940, he joined the Navy and was a survivor of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He retired from Rockwell in DuBois.
Victor was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church in Sykesville. He was a proud member of the Pearl Harbor Survivor’s Association and attended the 50th Anniversary Commemoration in Hawaii. He was also a life long Woodsman, a member of the VFW and Sykesville Firemen’s and a charter member of the Hen House.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jennie (Varacallo) Kosko, daughter Lisa Ann Kosko and brothers John, Paul, Thomas and Edward Kosko.
Victor is survived by his children Linda (Michael) Toth of Florida, Victor N. Kosko Jr. of Sykesville and James (Patsy) Kosko of Alabama. He has 4 grandchildren Nicole (Victor) Badger of DuBois, Michael Toth Jr. of Dallas, Jessica (James) Downey of Pittsburgh and Jennifer (Marty) Nemec of Atlanta, 3 great-grandchildren Caroline and Jackson Badger and Eleanor Downey. He is survived by one sister Agnes Fesko of Ohio.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 6pm until 8pm & Saturday from 9:30am until 10:30am at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville. Parastas will be held on Friday at 8pm & Panachida will be held on Saturday at 10am, both at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church with the Fr. Vasyl Banyk as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
