Donna (Hardie) Mehok

Donna (Hardie) Mehok, 89, Sykesville, passed away Sunday, March 07, 2021 at her residence. Born August 14, 1931 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Harry & Gertrude (Casper) Hardie. She married Edward “Jim” Mehok , he preceded her in death in May of 1966.

Donna and Jim have three children, Philip Mehok of DuBois, Michele (Dale) Leverknight of DuBois and Jessica Nichols of Sykesville, nine grandchildren Jim (Joyce) Mehok of Redding, CA, Betsy Mehok, Chesapeake, VA, Gwen (Rusty) Akers of Rockton, Chelsea (Preston) Pannell of Norfolk, VA, TJ (Stacey) Nichols of Hampton, VA, Brandon (Lacey) Ferut of DuBois, Samantha (Justin Berryman) Ferut, DuBois, Brodie (Alexandra) Ferut of Sykesville, Seth (Jenna) Ferut of DuBois, ten great-grandchildren, Ian, Landon, & Claire Akers of Rockton, Aries & Joselyn Berryman of DuBois, Reagan, Rusty & Riley Ferut of DuBois, and Remi & Jessi Nichols of Norfolk, VA.

The oldest of all of her siblings, she is survived by two sisters, Janet Vaccaro of Rutland, VT and Deborah Hardie of DuBois and she was preceded in death by Susie (Jack) Curtis, Georgia Ann (George) Farcus, Jim (Teri) Hardie, Mark (Tiny) Hardie and Denise Young.

Donna leaves behind such a large and loving family. Family gatherings were a favorite time of hers with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters & brothers in law.

A 1948 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School, she had worked for many years as a legal secretary and her last job was the Tax Collector for Sykesville. Her hobbies included reading, card games, bingo and jigsaw puzzles. She loved traveling to Casinos with her sisters in law and birthday dinners with her special friends.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 09, 2021 from 11am until 3pm at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sykesville. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3pm at the church with Fr. Bill Barron as celebrant. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Byzantine Church Cemetery beside her husband.
