Beverly Erlene (Wall) Smith, 86, of Portland Mills, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

Beverly was born January 8, 1937, in Stump Creek, Pennsylvania. She was the oldest of three children born to Francis and Irene (Hartle) Wall. She graduated from Sykesville-Henderson Joint High School in 1954. On October 6, 1962, Beverly married William Leon Smith Sr.; Leon adopted Beverly's son from a previous marriage then had three children together.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Irene; siblings, Richard and Lillian; husband, William Leon Sr.; and great granddaughter, Ronnie Smith. She is survived by her four children, Cliff (Jackie) Smith, Debby Smith, Richard (Lisa) Smith, and Sandy Harlan; three step-sons, William L. (Connie) Smith Jr., James (Ruth) Smith, and Gordon Smith; her sixteen grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Amanda (Andrew), Joshua, Colby (Erika), Shasta (David), Jamie (Travis), Andrew, Travis (Samantha), Terry (Tisha), Arroyo (Vincent), Justin (Nikki), Tonya, Destinee (Nathan), Tressa, and Toni; and twenty great grandchildren.

Beverly was a devoted housewife and mother and cherished being surrounded by her growing family. She had quite a green thumb and enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She was the best knitter and crocheter around. Her favorite color was purple, she never turned down a bowl of ice cream, and she loved coffee with extra sugar. She always had a smile and a full cookie jar. She was “Nanny” to so many people.

At Beverly's request, there will be no services. She was interred at Sykesville Memorial Cemetery.
