Clifford D. McAninch, 88, Sykesville, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at his residence. He was born June 24, 1927 in Big Run. He was the son of the late Glen A. and Edith M. (Hiphen) McAninch. He was married to Frances “Peg” (DePillo) McAninch on June 5, 1948; she survives in Sykesville.
Clifford served in WWII as a Machinist Mate 3/c V6 USNR aboard A.R.L. USS Patroslus and the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp. He retired with 33years of service from the B&O – CSX Railroad as a Carmen Car Inspector. He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and Honorary member of A.B.V.M. Rosary Society in Sykesville. He was past President of A.B.V.M. Holy name society, Member Lions Club & Past Grand Knight of K of C of Sykesville, Sykesville Fireman, American Legion, VFW.
Clifford is also survived by three daughters: Mrs. Allen (Cathy) Cable of DuBois, PA, Mrs. James (Terri) Dobson of Waco, TX, Mrs. Randy (Lisa) Grunthaner of St. Mary’s, PA; one son: Michael McAninch and his wife Kathleen of Sykesville, PA; two sisters: Donna Jean Rishel of Brookville, PA, Evelyn Dinger of Punxsutawney, PA; one brother: Paul McAninch of DuBois, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Clifford has lived most of his life in Big Run & Sykesville areas.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10:00am at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sykesville with Father Richard Tomasone officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Burial will take place in A.B.V.M. Cemetery.
