Franklin J. “Duch” Zediak, 91, Sykesville, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Christ the King Manor. He was born March 10, 1933 in Sykesville. A son of the late Peter & Helen (Kosko) Zediak. He married Shirley (DeMatz) Zediak on September 25, 1954, she preceded him in death in 2000.
He was a graduate of Sykesville High School and had worked as a Union Electrician for most of his life. He was an avid hunter and gardener, a charter member of Middle Ridge Sportsman and Sykesville Eagles as well as a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church in Sykesville.
Franklin leaves behind two sons Bradley (Deborah) Zediak and Douglas (Anna Johnson) Zediak both of Sykesville, two grandsons Douglas (Kaitlyn) Zediak, jr of Mississippi and Bradley (Dee) Zediak, II of DuBois, and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Franklin was also preceded in death by two sisters Dorothy Ghezzi and Margaret Murdock and a brother Emory Paul Zediak.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 2pm until 5pm and on Saturday, March 01, 2025 from 9:30am until 10:30am at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville. Devine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, March 01, 2025 at 11am at the Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church with Fr. Nathaniel Tapsak as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery beside his wife. Arrangements are under the direction of the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville.
