George A. Sonnie

George A. Sonnie, 57, Sykesville, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021. He was a son of Frank & Barbara (Rafferty) Sonnie who both survive in Sykesville. He married the love of his life Robyn (King) Sonnie on August 6, 1983. She also survives in Sykesville.

He was a 1983 graduate of DAHS. He was part owner of Sunrise Drilling Supply, a family business. George was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could at camp in Sinnemahoning and with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, George also leaves behind a son Adam (Kimberli) Sonnie, a daughter Megan (Joe) Surkala, a sister Suzanne (Stephen Thomas) Sonnie Haag, two grandchildren Gage and Carter Sonnie, all of Sykesville. He also had a German shepherd, Jozie that he called Tator, which was like his shadow.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville. Services will follow at the funeral home on Thursday at 8pm with Fr. Bill Barron officiating. Burial will take place in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in Sykesville. Arrangements are under the direction of the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of Sykesville.
