John "Poppy" Giraud

       John M. “Poppy” Giraud, age 96 of Treasure Lake, died suddenly on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at his residence.  He was born July 16, 1920, in the town of Dardilly, France, son of the late Louis and Marie (Dodat) Giraud.  John was married to Kathleen Marie “Nana” (Wade) Giraud on February 15, 1948.  She preceded him in death February 1, 2013.  John is survived by one daughter, Susan (Steven) Trout of The Villages, FL, and three sons, John (Cherie) Giraud of Scotch Plains, NJ, Michael (Michelle) Giraud of Treasure Lake, PA and Richard (Debra) Giraud of Lily, PA.  He also has eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.  He became the Vice-President and General Manager of Ballofett Die Corporation of Guttenberg, New Jersey, where he retired.  He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in DuBois.  His activities were wood working, crossword puzzles and reading. 

            Friends will be received on Friday, June 2, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in DuBois with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.  Family suggests memorials to the St. Jude  Children’s Hospital.
