Mildred A. (Galentine) Bilsky

Mildred Bilsky of DuBois passed away September 6th- just 9 days short of her 90th birthday at Christ the King Manor.  Millie was one of 11 children born to Guy and Martha Galentine of Luthersburg, on September 15, 1935.  Millie is survived by her daughter Linda Scolese of Reynoldsville and her son Francis Alan (Carol) of Bangor PA.  She had 5 grandchildren- Darren Scolese (Jen) of Reynoldsville, Ashley Marn (John) of Summerville SC, Frances, Joseph, and Barbara of Bangor.  She was fortunate to have been able to spend time with 6 of her great grandchildren- Brookelynn, Taylor, Lia, & Dominic Scolese and Lorelai & Cole Marn.

Millie was a LPN and worked both in nursing homes and private duty care of the elderly over the years.  Very few people knew she served in the Army in 1958-1959.  She was known for being seen all over town as she loved to walk for hours each day when she was able to.  Her deep faith in God is what helped see her through her life both in good times and in bad.  Millie was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in DuBois.

Millie was predeceased by her son-in-law John Scolese, her parents, 4 sisters (Joan, Joyce, Vivian & Martha) and 3 brothers (Gerald, Ronald, Harold). 

Many thanks go to the staff at Christ the King Manor over the last 7 years for taking such good care of Millie.

In keeping with Millie’s wishes, there will be no viewing. A private ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral details are being taken care of by the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of DuBois and she will be laid to rest at St. Marys Cemetery in Reynoldsville.  Memorials in Millie’s name can be made to the Reynoldsville Fire Dept.
