Paul Edward Muth

Paul Edward Muth, 95, of Sykesville passed away Sunday morning at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.

Paul was born in Sykesville May 22, 1920 to William James and Edith Emma (Haag) Muth.  He attended school in Sykesville.

Paul served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He was a member of the 702nd Tank Battalion.

Paul was married to Agnes C. Murdock on November 22, 1952 in Sykesville.  She preceded him in death April 1, 1999.

He worked in the Helvetia Mines, Kramer Mines, and retired from Symmco in Sykesville after 22 years.

Survived by a son, William (Annette) Muth of Curwensville, a daughter Paula (Keith) Wallace of Rockton; two grandsons:  Josh (Sarah) Muth of Wheeling, West Virginia, Mike Muth of Rockton, and a granddaughter Sherri Muth of Sabula: two step granddaughters: Katie Aughenbaugh of Silver Spring, Maryland and Diana (Tom) Kerr of Anderson, South Carolina; and a great grandson Zachary Scott Muth of Wheeling, West Virginia. 

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, step father Bill Bellingham, his brothers Ken, Melvin, John and Keith Muth and a sister Mary Wolfgang.  He was the last surviving member of his family.

He was a member of the Sykesville American Legion and the Sykesville Fire Department. 

Donations may be made to the Sykesville American Legion Post 345 or to the Sykesville Fire Department.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 3-7pm and Wednesday from 10-11am at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville. Services will follow on Wednesday at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. James Fillhart officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in Sykesville.
