Susan Jane Hetrick, 80, a lifelong resident of DuBois, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Penn Highlands Healthcare in DuBois. She was born on June 16, 1945 in DuBois, the daughter of the late John Everett and Margaret (Long) Uren. On May 21, 1966, Sue married John Phillip Hetrick. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Sue was a 1963 graduate of DAHS. She worked as a secretary for Lakeside Methodist Church, a switch board operator for Penn State DuBois as well as a secretary for Dr. Bradley Magill. She was a lifelong member of the DuBois Lakeside Church where she participated in the church choir, assisted with funeral dinners and anything else someone would come up with that Sue could lend a helping hand. Sue was always happiest when she could to be of service for others. Her family was very important to her and she was a very devoted follower of her faith and read her devotions daily.
On February 25, 2015, Sue moved to Nelson Golden Years where she resided for the last 10 years of her life. She was loved by all of her fellow residents and the staff. She spent her days going to Bingo and enjoyed playing other games, making crafts and loved to participate in the activities also. Sue will be greatly missed by all who loved her, especially her family and the Nelson Golden Years Staff and residents who considered her family also.
Susan was the last survivor of her immediate family.
At Susan’s request, there will be no public services held. She will be interned in Morningside Cemetery next to her parents and beside her husband.
Donations are suggested to Nelson Golden Years. Online condolences can be made at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com . Arrangements are under the direction of the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of DuBois.
