Timothy Bodt Obituary

Timothy Alan Bodt passed away on Nov. 21, 2021, at his home in DuBois, PA ,his wife was by his side. He was born to Walter J. Bodt and Marie R. Olsen Bodt on Dec. 15, 1948, in Long Island, Mineola, N.Y. He was the third of 13 children. Siblings were Elizabeth,(Betty, aka Liz) husband Marvin Buchmiller (deceased), W. James (simply James) deceased, Adrienne West, Wendy, husband John Fieser, Chloe, husband Phil Sasson (deceased), Jonathan, wife Mary Ellen, Abigail, husband Peter Smith, Dagmar (deceased), husband Mark Payne, Naomi, husband Robert Pucarelli, Rachel May, Hephzibah, husband Kurt Grossberndt (deceased) and Noah, wife Kristen (deceased). 26 nephews and nieces, Rueben deceased and Isadora, deceased, plus  9 grand nephews and nieces.

 Tim Bodt had many friends in the NY area and DuBois Area, PA  He was beloved by many, as one close family friend said' he was a jovial man. You either loved him or hated him, but he always spoke from the heart." A man always searching for the truth.

He was an active musician. Started playing the trumpet at 10 years old. First playing Dixie tunes with his father, graduating to playing jazz joined the school band in Carmel, NY. He attended Mannes Conservatory in NYC, afterwards,he worked with countless bands locally and on the road, across the states and Canada. He did several recordings and taught music privately and at several schools including, the Poughkeepsie Day School, Bard College, NY State University at New Paltz,  Barcones in Kingston NY, and others. He worked at Fritz's Music store in DuBois, taught and played in several bands including Dirty Martini, he was the piano player. Tim Bodt was a member of ASCAP

He worked playing the trumpet in many of the Catskill Hotels supporting the  acts coming to NY, Vic Damone, Sergio Franchi, Dom Deluise, Milton Berle, the Temptations, the Four Tops and others too long to list. Before leaving NY in 2005 he played trumpet and wrote out the horn parts for the show "to Build a Levee" at the Frank Gehry Hall, Bard College, a charity event for the people of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina,  Dr. John and Natalie Merchant  the headliners along with other stars. He played with Bo Diddleys, Roswell Rudd, Dick Ness of Peter, Paul and Mary, Jay Anderson of the Joe Sample band and others; Plus countless unsung heroes of the music world,  to name a few he who played with , Sam Furnace,sax.( deceased) Joel 'Bishop" O'Brien,piano, composer, dr,(deceased) Mark Swigatz, sax, Mike Cereno, bass, Richie Syracuse, bass, the Parker Brothers, and mamy many others you know who are, the players are in his heart, and play on.

His building career was extensive, he worked in Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster Counties,NY, including Woodstock, NY He met Mike Solensky of Treasure Lake who asked him to work with him  and others to save the Lake View Lodge, they succeeded.

His wife GraceAnn Bergin of 40 yrs will miss him, his drive, his spirit, his sense of humor and most of all his love.

The funeral arrangements are being handled by Leo Nedza Funeral Home, 199 W. DuBois Ave. DuBois,PA 15801.  A Memorial service will be Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, at 1:30 at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois. Online condolences can be made at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com .
