Walter G. Zirneskie

Walter G. “Rezzie” Zirneskie, age 89, of Harborcreek, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026. He was born in Sykesville, PA on May 29, 1936, son of the late Joseph and Mary Zirneskie.

Walter grew up in Sykesville and was a 1954 graduate of Sykesville High School, where he played basketball and football. He served in the U.S. Navy and later went to barber school. He had worked in the Carnesali Barber Shop in Brockway and was later employed at Kaiser Aluminum for 31 years until this retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling.

Walter is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alex, Frank and Joseph Zirneskie.

A Memorial Graveside service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 1:30pm at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in Sykesville, PA. Military Services will follow at the cemetery with the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of Sykesville.
