William "Bill" DeLong

William “Bill” DeLong, 90, DuBois, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022, at DuBois Nursing Home. He was born July 18, 1932, in DuBois; a son of the late Charles E. & Mary (Duttry) DeLong. He married Barbara (Bailey) who preceded him in death, then he married Betty (Sherman) who survives in DuBois.

He is survived by a son William (Christine) DeLong of DuBois, two step-daughters Barbara Merrill of Lancaster and Cynthia (Allen) Zents of Brookville, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews.

William graduated from DuBois High School. He was in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing country music, he started Boone Mt Singers, he loved cars and enjoyed painting them at his shop in Sabula. William was a kind and gentle person whose faith was important to him showing through his life long membership at the DuBois Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, 1st wife, he was also preceded in death by a daughter Pamela Pavlik, three brothers Francis “Bud”, James and Charles, Jr., a step-son-in-law Wayne Merrill and a step-son William Sherman.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 2:00pm at the DuBois Church of Christ with Rev. Keith Newell officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.
