William A Hartzfeld, 91, of soldier passed away Monday, January 23, 2017. He was born April 27, 1925 in Grampian. He was the son of the late Ruben & Georgia Pauline (Walburn) Hartzfeld.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a member of the VFW in MD and the American Legion in Sykesville. On March 16, 1948 he married Margaret (Muth) Hartzfeld, she preceded him in death in July of 1975. He then made his home with his best friend and companion Angeline Tabone from 1979 till her death in February of 1990. William then lived with Angeline's daughter Diana Lynn (Randy) Walburn from 1992 until his passing.
He work for 23 years with White Motor Company of Maryland and 6 years for Robert Cole Trucking of Falls Creek. William was a transmission and rear end heavy duty mechanic.
He is survived by one daughter Patricia Fields of Curwensville and Angeline's daughters Christine Liberti of Buffalo NY, Josephine (Fred) Nichols of Westville PA, Marlene (Donald) Bloom of Stump Creek PA, Mary (James) Deters of Reynoldsville PA and Diana (Randy) Walburn of Soldier PA, 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his companion, a son Byron Hartzfeld and a granddaughter Rebecca Hartzfeld. Also Angeline's daughter Patricia Roy, a brother Henry Hartzfeld, his sister's Fay Welder, Ruth Muth, Ruby Heffner, Edie Walker, Laura Bloom, and Mary Bloom. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, from 9:30 until 12:30pm at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville. A service will follow at 12:30pm at the funeral home with Reverend David Nagele officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.
